Juan Carlos Martinez

Dr. Martinez, who joined St. Luke’s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery/Body Evolution in 2017, is a fellowship-trained microsurgeon. Among the procedures he performs are breast reconstruction with implants and autologous tissue, including DIEP (deep inferior epigastric artery perforator), a microsurgical technique that rebuilds the breast lost to mastectomy by using the patient’s own abdominal tissue.

  • Earned his medical degree from Universidad Ibero Americana School of Medicine, where he graduated first in his class
  • Completed his internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City
  • Completed his surgical residency at St. Luke’s University Hospital – Bethlehem, where he was named the St. Luke’s Department of Surgery Resident of the Year
  • Completed a three-year plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery fellowship at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center
  • Completed a one-year microsurgery fellowship at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, both in Columbus, OH
  • Has a special interest and training in:
    • Complex oncologic and trauma reconstruction
    • Breast augmentation, reduction and lifts
    • Facial rejuvenation and aesthetic surgery
    • Body contouring after weight loss or bariatric surgery
    • Migraine treatment with surgery
    • Abdominal wall reconstruction
